Hi everyone!

KlipFolio 5 Beta D is now available! This beta has a brand-new main toolbar, along with more enhancements and bug fixes based on your suggestions and feedback.

What's New in Beta D?

Revamped KlipFolio Toolbar - The main KlipFolio toolbar has a brand new look and feel in this build that makes quite a bit more functionality available than before. Give it a try and let us know what you think of the changes. To turn off the button labels, right-click on one of the buttons and un-check "Show Button Labels". Be sure to try right-clicking on the area to the right of the new buttons (where the KlipFolio logo is), and be sure to try re-sizing your toolbar. Here's a preview of the new toolbar:



New Klips - There are now four new Klips on the New KlipFolio 5 Klips page, two of which are all-new. Be sure to give them a try and post your feedback.

Enhancements - The Find field now persists across KlipFolio sessions, plus we have made quite a few other minor improvements.

Bug Fixes - Many of the reported bugs have been addressed and are noted as such on the list of Beta C known issues. As for the remaining issues yet to be addressed, please check the new thread, KlipFolio 5 Beta D Known Issues.


New & Notable In KlipFolio 5

Column Headers with Sorting - Turn on column headers in any Klip by right-clicking on the Klip name and going to Display Settings->Show Column Headers. Click a column header to sort the Klip.

Card Layout - The latest versions of the Custom Weather and Youtube Klips use this new layout option.

Actions - Klips can now have a button (in the Klip view) and windows associated with it, as well as extra entries in the context menus. Right-click on both the items and the name of the Klip to see the available actions.

Find - Quickly search the items in a Klip. To activate the Find field, right-click on the Klip name and select "Find...".

Feed Viewer - The Feed Viewer Klip has been updated and greatly improved. New features include XML Auto discovery, drag & drop support for adding feeds, many new actions, better favicon searching, and a couple of new options in the Klip Setup window.

Drag & Drop - Klips can now detect drag & drop events. The latest Feed Viewer and Bookmarks Klips both support drag & drop for adding feeds and bookmarks, respectively.

Liquid Klips Undo - If KlipFolio's Liquid Klips feature makes a move you don't like, hit <ctrl>+Z to undo it. To redo a Klip layout change, hit <ctrl>+<shift>+Z or <ctrl>+Y.

Developer Mode Improvements - Developer Mode can now be turned on in the KlipFolio Options window, on the General tab. Klip authors, be sure to check out the improved "Developer Tools" menu.

Improved Vista Support - Windows Vista users should see a dramatic improvement in the way KlipFolio works on their operating system.

Bug Fixes - The infamous full-screen game/video flicker bug has been fixed, along with numerous other minor fixes and tweaks. See the Release Notes for the full list of changes and fixes.

Found first Bug: when Klipfolio is refreshing, you can´t click on the buttons.

By the way: You didn´t fresh up the Changlog. It only shows beta c

And please add the date column to the feedviewer

I'm glad you like the new toolbar! I've reproduced the issue where the toolbar buttons can't be clicked while being refreshed - we'll look into that and see what's happening.

The release notes will be going up at some point later today. And we'll look into adding some form of date column to the Feed Viewer.

My toolbar buttons can't be clicked, even if no refresh is in progress. It seems that all those "menu" buttons, i.e. those with a little triangle for more options, don't work. Even the one triangle indicating more buttons (the one at the right) doesn't react on clicks. The refresh button works fine, though. Right click in the free area opens the context menu, so there's a workaround.

EDIT: Seems to work after some time... Maybe it's the refresh...

hmoeller: The issue you saw is probably related in some way to the issue that Firence saw. We'll have a fix in place in Beta E that should resolve all issues related to the toolbar buttons being unclickable when they shouldn't be.

Firence: Which functions from the Klips would you want to see in the Mark button's menu?

There's still a bug in the Feed Viewer Klip: When opening the customization menu and there are more than one Klip in the list, clicking on a feed doesn't always change the feed url in the text box above. It works in 1 out of 3 cases but not always.

Firence: That is an interesting idea, although we won't be doing anything like that in version 5.0. We'll consider it as we plan version 5.1. Thanks for the suggestion.

hmoeller: I've reproduced the issue, and we'll have a look at what's going on. Thanks for letting us know about this one.

krapanj: We're planning some enhancements to the alert system for a future update to KlipFolio (after 5.0), and you'll probably see something like what you suggest in that update. Thanks for the suggestion.

When klipfolio is in right or left sidebar mode and you right click on it you , or click on the top menu button, get no menu on Vista Home Basic SP1.

Update:

The Klipfolio main menu works in left / right sidebar mode right on the edge of the screen.

I can reproduce how the menu doesn't get displayed when clicking on the left/right sidebar, and how it is displayed when I do the same near both edges of the sidebar.

But, I cannot reproduce the problem where the main menu doesn't open in sidebar mode. For this problem, do you mean, if you click on the "Add RSS or..." button, nothing happens, and same for the other buttons? Does the button change colors when you press them?

Posibly this problem is only on my computer. I can't install the Klipfolio on my comp. I have Windows XP SP2 Russian. Every time when I open the install application, my comp does nothing. I tried to uninstall previos Klipfolio version, but nothing has changed. Help me, please.

Hi masayo,

I have included an image which shows how I have my klipfolio. It is the button highlighted in red which doesn't show any menu when I click on it.

I have the klipfolio width the same size as a minimized klip as a right hand sidebar. If I extend the width to show the buttons they work.
