Metric certification (for data sources)

We recently combined raw and modelled data sources into a single object called a data feed.
If you see Data Feeds in the left navigation sidebar, go to this article to learn how to certify metrics.
These new features are being released gradually. If you don't see them in your account yet - no worries - they’re coming soon!

Want colleagues to refer to a specific metric as a single source of truth? Certify it!

When you create, or have edit access to, a metric, you can set it as “certified”. Certification status indicates that you’ve verified it and recommend it for use by others in your organization. You can certify any type of metric: instant, instant (calculated), custom, or calculated.

You can tell if a metric is certified – wherever the metric name displays it will be followed by the blue “certified” check mark (see an example below).

Certifying metrics

After adding instant metrics, you can certify them as an editing action. For custom and calculated metrics, you can either certify them during the creation process or afterward by editing them. The following procedures describe certifying (and removing certification) for a metric in edit mode.

To certify a metric:

  1. Click Metrics in the left navigation sidebar to open your list of metrics.
  2. In your list of metrics, select the uncertified metric that you want to certify. The metric’s homepage opens in view mode.
  3. Click the Edit button at the top of the page. (See below.)
  4. In the side panel, under Certification, enable the Certify this metric toggle.

The certification information displays, including your name (as the person who certified the metric) and the date and time of certification. (See below.)
  5. Click Save metric.

To remove a metric’s certification:

  1. Click Metrics in the left navigation sidebar.
  2. In your list of metrics, select the certified metric for which you want to remove certification. The metric homepage opens in view mode.
  3. Click the Edit button at the top of the page. (See below.)
  4. In the side panel, under Certification, disable the Certify this metric toggle.
The certification information displays, including the name of the person who removed the metric certification and the date and time it was removed. (See below.)
  5. Click Save metric.
