Create a new data source using Trello

To create a new data source using Trello, you need to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Start the data source creation process.
  • Find your Trello Application Key and use it in a URL to find your Trello Token.
  • Write your query and enter it into Klipfolio.
  • Complete the data source creation process.

Note: This guide assumes that you already have an active Trello account.

Step 1: Start the data source creation process

To create a data source using Trello, go to the Connector Gallery page in Klipfolio and select Trello.

Step 2: Generate your Application Key and Trello Token

To authenticate with Trello, you will need to:

  • Generate a Trello API Key. (Note: You will not need your API Secret.)
  • Generate a Trello Token.

Generate your Trello Application Key

  1. Open Trello and log in.
  2. After logging in, click this link to generate an API Key.
  3. Save the API Key only. We will use it to generate a token.

Generate your Trello Token

  1. Stay logged in to Trello. On a new tab, paste the following URL into the address bar:
  2. In the URL, replace your-api-key with the API Key you just generated and any-app-name with whatever you like, such as Klipfolio.

  1. Click Log In.
  2. Click Allow.

  1. Copy and save the 64-digit hexademical token.

You now have a Trello API Key and Token. You can use them in your queries in Klipfolio.

Step 3: Write your query and enter it into Klipfolio

Trello offers a wide variety of query options, all of which can be made by referencing the Trello API docs.

Step 4: Complete the data source creation process

Now that you have written your query:

  1. At Data Format, select JSON from the drop-down list.
  2. At Method, select GET.
  3. Select Submit.
    Note: In addition to your unmodelled data source, you can create a modelled version of your data source at this stage. To create a modelled data source, ensure that the checkbox next to Model this data source is selected before clicking Continue.

  4. If you are satisfied with the data returned, select Continue.
