POWER function

The POWER function returns the result of a number raised to a given power.

The syntax for the POWER function is:

POWER( bases , exponent )

Parameters

bases The base number. number vector
exponent Exponent used to raise the base number. number scalar

POWER example

This example is based on data from a sample Excel spreadsheet, where the formula calculates 3 to the power of 4.

A

1 3
2 4

POWER( A1 , A2 )

-> [81]

Since exponent is a scalar, extra work is required to raise an array of bases to a corresponding array of exponents. Assuming the arrays are the same size, use the MAP function to accomplish this.

MAP( CUMULATIVE( REPEAT(1, COUNT(array1) ) ),
           "Y",
           POWER( SLICE( array1, (Y -1), Y), SLICE( array2, (Y -1), Y)) )
