BLANK

BLANK ( count )

If the count parameter is specified with a numeric value, BLANK will return the specified number of blank values and if it is not specified, BLANK will return one blank value.

Using BLANK and REPLACE

The examples in this section use this data set:

  A B
1 Country Votes
2 Canada 30
3 USA 22
4 Australia 7
5 France 0
6 Italy 32
7   20
8 Brazil  12

REPLACE a BLANK value

REPLACE(SLICE(values),BLANK(), "string")

  • values: set to the Country data in column A (A:A) and wrapped in SLICE to remove the column header.
  • string: set to "No Country".

Result: Column A will be returned with "No Country" as a value instead of a blank.

REPLACE 0 with BLANK

REPLACE(SLICE(values),0, BLANK())

  • values: set to the Votes data in column B (B:B).

Result: Column B will be returned with a blank value that replaces 0.
