How do I upload a file to use as a data source?

You can create data sources in Klipfolio using uploaded files. After creating data sources, you'll use them to power your custom metrics and Klips.

Note: We support the following formats: Excel, XML, CSV, and JSON.

Creating a data source using an uploaded file

Upload files directly from your device and use them to create a data source in Klipfolio.

To create a data source using an uploaded file:

  1. Click Data Sources in the left navigation bar.

If you don’t see the above option, go to the bottom of the left navigation sidebar and click your Account Name > Data Sources instead.

  1. Click Create a New Data Source and select File Upload.
  2. Click Choose File and select a file to upload.
  3. Click Get data.
  4. Ensure this is the data you’re looking for. If you’re using Klips, optionally select the checkbox to Model your data. If you’re using PowerMetrics, which requires modelled data sources, you’ll automatically enter the modeller after clicking Continue. Learn more about modelling data sources.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Name, choose refresh settings, and, optionally, share your data source.
  7. Click Save.

The data source is added to your account and is ready to use for custom metrics or custom Klips. You can see all your data sources in your Data Source Library, accessed by clicking Data Sources in the left navigation sidebar.

Refreshing an uploaded data source

To refresh a data source that was created by uploading a file from your device, you must overwrite the version you previously uploaded to Klipfolio with an updated file. The following steps can be used to refresh the data in an existing uploaded data source.

Note: Data sources created using cloud storage connectors are refreshed automatically.

To refresh an uploaded data source:

  1. Click Data Sources in the left navigation bar to open your list of data sources.

If you don’t see the above option, go to the bottom of the left navigation sidebar and click your Account Name > Data Sources instead.

  1. From your list of data sources, select the file you want to update. Note that you must select a raw data source, not a modelled data source.
  2. On the About this Data Source page, select Reconfigure Connection or Re-Upload Now.

  1. Click Reconfigure.
  7. Click Save.
