This article contains the following information:
- Opening the details page for a data source
- Accessing general information and performing basic actions
- Viewing and modifying connection details
- Refreshing data sources
- Previewing your data
- Sharing data sources
- Deleting data sources
Note: This article refers to modelled and unmodelled data sources. When you create a data source, we automatically model it for you. To see and modify the unmodelled data source a modelled data source is based on, in the modelled data source details page at Connection, click the link beside Uses Data Source.
Opening the details page for a data source
You access information for each data source from its details page.
Click Data Sources in the left side navigation to open your list of data sources.
Note: If you don’t see this option, go to the bottom of the left navigation sidebar and click your Account Name > Data Sources instead.
Note: When looking at the details page for a data source, available options and information vary depending on how the data source was created and whether the data source is modelled. For example, data sources that are created for you when you add instant metrics are managed by PowerMetrics and cannot be duplicated or reconfigured.
Accessing general information and performing basic actions
Clicking General opens the About this (modelled) data source page where you can find the following information and perform the following actions:
For all data source types:
- Click Edit Properties to modify the data source's Name and Description.
- View basic information about your data source, for example, the Owner of the data source, the date it was Created, and the Data Source ID, and Format.
For unmodelled data sources:
- View the data source Size.
- Click Edit Properties to modify the Queue for Refresh interval.
- If there are any modelled data sources that use this data source, beside Used by Modelled Data Sources, click the link to open the details page for the associated modelled data source.
- Create a new modelled data source by clicking Create modelled data source, located beside Format and in the upper-right corner of the page.
For modelled data sources:
- At Format, click Edit Model to edit the data source. Note: Some modelled data sources are edited by clicking Edit Feed (beside Connections). "Managed" modelled data sources are created by us when you add instant metrics and cannot be edited.
Viewing and modifying connection details
After clicking General, under Connection, you can see and modify the connection to your data.
For unmodelled data sources:
- At Connection, click Reconfigure Connection to modify your data source query.
- Click Queue for Refresh to manually place the data source into the refresh queue or Re-Upload Now to update an uploaded data source. You can also check your Refresh Status here and see when your data was last refreshed.
- Click View Refresh Info to open the Refresh Info window (or click Refresh Info located in the left-side navigation menu).
For modelled data sources:
- Click Edit Feed to edit the data source. Note: Some modelled data sources are edited by clicking Edit Model (beside Format) instead. "Managed" modelled data sources are created by us when you add instant metrics and cannot be edited.
- Beside Uses Data Source, click the link to open the details page for the associated unmodelled data source.
- If applicable, view merged modelled data source details at Uses Modelled Data Source(s) or Used by Modelled Data Source(s). Learn more about merging modelled data sources.
Refreshing data sources
For unmodelled data sources only:
- Click Refresh Info to view the refresh information and error log for a data source.
- At Send to Queue, click Edit to change the queue for refresh rate. Click Queue for Refresh to manually place the data source into the refresh queue or Re-Upload Now to update an uploaded data source.
Learn more about data source refresh and refresh errors.
Previewing your data
Click General to see a preview of your data under Current Data. You can see how your data will display using the preview window and, for unmodelled data sources, download a copy by clicking Download Data.
Sharing data sources
Click Sharing to see who has access to the data source. To update sharing access, click the Edit button next to Access. Learn more about sharing data sources.
Deleting data sources
Delete a data source by clicking General and scrolling down to either Delete Model or Delete Data Source. When you click the "Delete" button, you're given the option to cancel the deletion.
If you're viewing an unmodelled data source:
- Delete your unmodelled data source by clicking Delete Data Source. Deleting your unmodelled data source permanently removes it from all data source lists, metrics, and modelled data sources. It also removes it from users' accounts that it was shared with.
If you're viewing a modelled data source:
- Delete your modelled data source by clicking Delete Model. Deleting your modelled data source permanently removes it from all data source lists and metrics in your account. It also removes it from users' accounts that it was shared with.
Note: Deleting the modelled data source does not delete the unmodelled data source that was used to build it.
