Why you’ll love the PowerMetrics for Stripe app
Here are just a few of the things you’re going to love about PowerMetrics for Stripe:
- In-depth data analytics. Monitor the metrics that matter most to you from your key metrics list in Stripe. See a trend you want to investigate further? Open the metric in PowerMetrics and dive in! There are many ways to explore your metrics. For example, segment your data to break it down and see it from multiple perspectives or try a different visualization type (we have lots of chart options). The changes you make to a metric when exploring are only visible to you, so it’s the perfect way to experiment with your data without affecting others.
- Combine and compare data from multiple sources, all from within your Stripe Dashboard. PowerMetrics lets you access data and track metrics from multiple services, all in one place. Some of our most popular connections include Google Analytics, Google Drive, Google Ads, Facebook, HubSpot, QuickBooks, Xero, Salesforce, Shopify, Zendesk, and, of course, Stripe! Add metrics for the services you’re interested in and track them side by side in your Stripe Dashboard. You can also combine metrics from multiple services into calculated metrics, for example, you can create a single calculated metric that displays total followers by adding together the Followers instant metrics from Facebook and Instagram.
- Access to 380+ instant metrics for 17 popular services. Created by industry experts and based on best practices, our instant metrics are easy to add and will get you to your data fast. Simply pick the metrics you want to track and sign into your service account.
- Create Stripe instant and custom metrics. Get more from your Stripe data with the advanced reporting and visualization capabilities found in PowerMetrics. Our Stripe instant metrics (based on Klipfolio-managed data feeds) and custom metrics (based on data feeds you create and manage) allow you to get granular with your data. Break down your Stripe subscription data and payments to see fees, the distribution of refunds, your cash-in, or failed charges and to recognize patterns and trends. Segment your data so you can look at it by country, card type, and product across a wide variety of visualization types. Go to MetricHQ if you want to learn more about our Stripe instant metrics.
- Set metric goals and get notifications on their status. Track your business’ progress by setting threshold and recurring target goals for your metrics. Visualize your metric goals in bar, line, area, and summary charts and keep updated on their status with in-app and email notifications.
- Build dashboards to communicate business performance. Add your essential metrics to dashboards. Our dashboards are highly flexible, for example, you can choose unique colours for your charts, add text and images, and filter on dates (per metric or dashboard-wide). After perfecting your dashboard, you can optionally share it as a published view or by downloading and printing it as a PDF.
- Metrics include history. Accessing data history is key to understanding how your metrics have evolved over time. We can store up to 10 years’ worth of data history. As your data accumulates and your data feeds and metrics grow, we continue to collect and store it for you.

The method you use to add to your list of key metrics differs depending on whether:
- You want to add NEW metrics. Maybe you haven’t added any metrics yet or maybe you have some metrics already but would like to add some new ones.
- You’ve already added metrics in PowerMetrics but your key metric list is empty. This happens when you haven’t selected metrics yet to display in your key metrics list or you edited the list and removed its metrics.

- A list of all of your metrics displays.
If you have a long list, you can narrow it down by filtering on service type or entering the metric name in the search field. - Select the checkbox beside the metric(s) you want to add to your list of key metrics.
- When you’re done, click Add selected metrics.
You add to your key metrics list from your list of available metrics like this:

-
If you don’t see what you’re looking for in the My metrics shortlist, click See all to access the list of all your available metrics.

Working with your key metrics
Use the key metrics list to keep an eye on your most important metrics. When you notice activity that warrants a deeper investigation, click the metric name in your list to open it in PowerMetrics. Opening a metric displays its homepage, where you can view the metric from multiple perspectives and edit the metric for yourself and for everyone who has shared access. Learn more about viewing and editing your metrics. You can dig into and experiment with your data even further by clicking the 3-dot menu for a metric view on the homepage and selecting Explore (metric name). Go here for all the details on exploring your metrics.
Your key metric charts give you everything you need to effectively monitor your data. On the key metrics page, your metrics display as line charts, where current and previous values display on top of each other. (See below.)
On the key metrics page, you can:
- Click the 3-dot menu and select View app settings to go to the Klipfolio PowerMetrics Settings page (Settings > Installed apps > Klipfolio PowerMetrics). This is where you manage your active connection to PowerMetrics and access help resources and pricing plan information.
- Click X to close the PowerMetrics for Stripe app.
- Click Go to PowerMetrics to open your list of metrics in PowerMetrics in a new window.
- Click the button to add metrics to your key metric list (or the +Add metrics button, if you're editing the key metrics list).
- Click the Edit button to rearrange metrics in the list and to add metrics to and remove metrics from the key metrics list.
See “Editing your key metrics list” for more detailed information.
- Click the name of the metric to open it in PowerMetrics.
- Select the date range over which you want to view your data. The specific days for the selected range also display.
Note: You may notice that some date ranges are unavailable. This is because the maximum date range window you can access depends on your pricing plan. Go here to learn more.
- Select a periodicity (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly). Available options depend on the date range that’s currently selected. Your choice determines how your metric data is grouped (by hour, by week, etc.).
Note: To select a periodicity, click and hold, then select.
- See the following details for each metric:
- The metric name.
- The associated service (or services) icon. Understanding metric icons.
- The last time data was added to the metric by PowerMetrics. About refresh.
- The metric value for the selected date range. Transactional metrics will show the aggregated value over the whole date range. Current values metrics will show the current value at the end of the date range (the last refreshed or modified value). If you want to learn more about transactional and current values metrics, go here.
- A comparison of the metric's current value versus its value from the previous, equivalent date range. For example, if the selected date range is “Last 7 days”, a comparison to the previous 7 day period will display. If you see “N/A”, that means there’s no data available for a comparison, for example, the value hasn’t changed since the last period. In this case, try selecting a different date range.
Comparisons are indicated as positive (+ sign, with a green background) (values have changed with a positive trend) or negative (- sign, with a red background) (values have changed with a negative trend).
For example, see below, where the percentage of page views per session (a metric where a higher value indicates a positive trend) for the current period is lower than that of the previous period by 4.71%.
- Your key metric data, visualized as a line chart.
- Error messages (if applicable). Error states and how to resolve them.
Editing your key metrics list
When in edit mode, you can add and remove metrics from your list of key metrics and rearrange the order of items in the list.
To edit your key metrics list:

A few differences to note
You may notice a few differences in the way your data displays in PowerMetrics for Stripe and in PowerMetrics.
Chart types:
- In PowerMetrics for Stripe, your metric data is always displayed as a line chart, where current and previous values display on top of each other.
- In PowerMetrics, depending on the data type, you can visualize metrics in bar/column charts, line/area charts, pie/donut charts, tree maps, radar charts, waterfall charts, heat maps, summary charts, tables, scatter/bubble charts, or combination charts. Go here to learn more about our chart types and styles.
Date range filters:
- In PowerMetrics for Stripe, you can filter your data using these preset options: Today, Last 7 days, Last 4 weeks, Last 3 months, Last 12 months, Month to date, Quarter to date, and Year to date.
- In PowerMetrics, you can filter your data using these preset options: Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, This week, Last week, Last 30 days, This month, Last month, Month to date, Last 6 months, Last 12 months, This year, Last year, and Year to date. PowerMetrics also includes two handy preset options designed to meet the majority of date filtering needs: Auto and Maximum. Learn more about these options here.
- In PowerMetrics, you can create unique date ranges using the custom option. Custom date filter settings can also help you align metric date ranges between products. For example: The “quarter to date” time range that’s available in Stripe for PowerMetrics can be easily replicated in PowerMetrics by selecting a custom date range.
Note: Regardless of the product you're viewing metrics in, the date ranges available to you depend on your PowerMetrics pricing plan. Learn more about date range windows and your pricing plan.
Data format types:
- In PowerMetrics for Stripe, duration as a data format is not supported.
- In PowerMetrics, duration as a data format is supported.
Handling gaps in data:
- In PowerMetrics for Stripe, we handle gaps in data by inferring values when there are none. Current value metrics keep the previous value and transactional value metrics assume “0” for missing data.
- In PowerMetrics, by default, missing data points display as gaps in visualizations. However, when exploring a metric in PowerMetrics, you can deselect the break lines for blank values option to display a continuous line. When you do this, a line is drawn between known data points to fill in the gaps.
