Historical Facebook Data

Hi,

I was wondering if any of you know a way to gather historical data from the Graph API, such as the Page Like Count of one of our pages for the past year? I would need it daily, so just the last count is not what I am looking for. But I always run into an error if I try to access older data than 95 days ago.

  Hello Max,

  Greetings!

  With the Facebook API, you can only get 3 months of data at a time. If you want to go beyond that, you will need to use multiple data sources in your klip.

  Say for getting FB Page metrics for last 12 months, you can create 4 data sources, each data source covering 3 months. The queries would look like this:

  DS1: 

  https://graph.facebook.com/<YourPageID>/insights/page_fans,page_fan_adds?since={date.addMonths(-12).startOfMonth.format()}&until={date.addMonths(-10).endOfMonth.format()}

  DS2:

  https://graph.facebook.com/<YourPageID>/insights/page_fans,page_fan_adds?since={date.addMonths(-9).startOfMonth.format()}&until={date.addMonths(-7).startOfMonth.format()}

  DS3:

  https://graph.facebook.com/<YourPageID>/insights/page_fans,page_fan_adds?since={date.addMonths(-6).startOfMonth.format()}&until={date.addMonths(-4).endOfMonth.format()}

  DS4:

  https://graph.facebook.com/<YourPageID>/insights/page_fans,page_fan_adds?since={date.addMonths(-3).startOfMonth.format()}&until={date.addMonths(-1).endOfMonth.format()}

  These data sources use Klipfolio's date range parameters

  And in the formulas, you will need to use ARRAY function to stitch data from all the 4 data sources.

  I am happy to share that it is now possible to store data history in Klipfolio. The new Metric Monitoring capability allows you to define a metric to track over time. Additional data is stored for the metric on each data refresh. With Facebook you would start with data for the last 95 days, but then going forward the available data history will grow each day.
