Hi,
I've shared some dashboards with a view-only user. However, the dashboards appear in a different order then in my account. I would like them to be in the same order.
note: the view-only user can not change the order of the dashboards himself (opposed to user's with edit rights who can drag & drop the dashboard tabs around).

To order the dashboards for a user who is unable to set the order themselves, you can use the Index of the user group they are in.
From the Dashboards section of the Groups panel, you can set the individual index of each dashboard.
1 would be leftmost, and any number past that would be to the right.

I've got feedback from our read-only users that the dashboard order in their account still seems rather random, instead of the defined order for their user group.

Unfortunately, sometimes if content, or new dashboards are added, the indexes can get out of order.
What you can do to solve this, is to remove the users in question from the group, then add them back rigt after.
This should put the dashboards back in the right order.

Is there any thought about adding a permission only for rearranging dashboards?
so that I can allow a user to rearrange the dashboard but not edit or add dashboards?
