Klip Snapshots as CSV

Hi,

It's possible to download a Klip as a CSV from a dashboard, but you can't send an email snapshot of a Klip as a CSV. So I lose data over the weekend (without a manual step on those days or on the first day of the week) which seems unnecessary. Would it be possible to add this as an option when scheduling an email snapshot for a Klip?

Thanks,

Steve

    Hi Steve,

Thank you for contributing to the community!

Can you help me better understand what you are trying to accomplish?  Why are you downloading the dashboard data to CSV every day?  What do you do with the CSV download you are doing from the dashboard?  What would you like to do with the CSV data you are downloading?

I may be reading a lot into your request that may not be the core requirement.  It would be great to have a clearer picture of your situation and need.  This will help with evaluating the request and where it would fit in prioritization discussions.

    Thank you again!

    Cheers,

    Scott.

Steve's response came in through a support ticket:

    Hi Scott,

Essentially we want to be able to run a daily extract Klip through Klipfolio as a csv – without having to go in and download it each day and instead rely upon the scheduled export feature.

    Cheers,

    Thanks for posting, Rahul!

Steve, thank you for sharing your use case.

What is the extract being used for?

Adding what you have shared to the feature request along with your name as context.

    Cheers,

    Scott.

I have clients who would be interested in using this, as they upload a CSV extract into other reporting systems on a daily basis.

We would also be interested in this for different reason. We have several table Klips that give lists of information. We're usually displaying enough data points that we have to scroll down in order to see them all.

    Examples:

    1) A list of our database imports along with a "Success" or "Failure" indicator that out dev team uses.

    2) A list of all clients for a given branch that we need to do a sales follow up with.

    3) A list of each support agent and a count of tickets for that agent by status.

The purpose of the snapshot is to provide a way to easily reference the information in the Klip at the time the snapshot was created. This is problematic in the case of table Klips like those above because the snapshots don't give you all of the data; you can only see what was visible from the UI before you scroll down in the Klip. Thus, you still have to go to the web UI to get a full picture of what's happening in that Klip at that specific moment.

The option to send a CSV instead of picture for this style of Klip would circumvent this issue. Alternatively, in our specific use case, an image of the fully expanded table would also work.

Thanks for adding your thoughts, Leann!

Am I correct in understanding that:

your core problem is that you need to see what the state of those database imports/clients/support agents was at a given moment in time. And so, if there was some other way of retrieving the state that your data was in historically, that your use-case would be satisfied?

Steve's response to this came in through a support ticket:

    Hi,

The main purpose is that we report to our customers and a lot of them like to receive an extract of what we’ve done. So, for example, we might want to send them a daily extract of work as a csv, so they can click through links etc. instead of just images/pdfs.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi,

This would be a very useful feature for us as well.

We need it in order to store historical (daily) data and plot trends over the past week.

    Hi Filip,

Thank you for the feedback. Have you seen the new Trends capability that we are working on? With Trends you can track your performance over time. Metric data is stored and added to with each datasource refresh, so you can see historical values.

This article provides and Introduction to Trends.

If you are interested in trying out the new capabilities, you can sign up for the Trends Beta waitlist here.

    Hi,

Thanks, yes we’ve signed upp for the Beta version of trends and will check it out if we can use that in order to cover our needs.

Currently we’re doing additional calculations on the historical data and use it to plot additional graphs in excel, and so it would be nice to also have the possibility to get the extract in csv format.

    Regards

    Filip
