Copying indicators

I am Looking for a way to copy the indicator syntax from one column in a table to another column in the same table. Currently I have to set-up the indicators for each column which can be time consuming especially when there are multiple conditions e.g. If Col B is greater than Col J and Col A is equal to G then change background color… to Green If Col B is less than Col J and Column A is equal to G then change background color… to Red If Col B is greater than Col J and Col A is equal to B then change background color… to Red If Col B is less than Col J and Col A is equal to B then change background color… Green I'm doing this now for a table with 10 columns which means typing 40 lines of condition statements one by one.

Yes I am looking for this feature as well, I am using indicators for building out a retention graph using the Table view and being able to copy indicators from one column to the next is a very simple and useful feature

Any progress with this? As stated, rebuilding all the indicator rules is a pain.

    Hi Johannes,

Thanks for adding your voice to this request.  Can you share more about what you are trying to do?  Any additional insights into your use case and situation would be very helpful for ensuring the needs are captured appropriately and to help with prioritization.

Any context about the visualization you are trying to create where you would use this kind of feature, or the insights you are trying to share with your users, or even any specific visualizations where you would see yourself using this kind of feature would be very helpful.  Also, how often would you be using such a feature?

Any additional insights would be great.

In the meantime, I will add your name to the feature request.

    Cheers,

    Scott.

I would love this feature as I use it all the time within my Table Klips.  I have an Inventory table that I use indicators to "color code" each product.  See below example.  I have to do this for every column and it takes up way too much time.  This also works for any indicators that may be done throughout the table such as a table of Sales Orders where the whole row changes colors based on changes in the source (such as when it is shipped, etc.)

    Thanks.

    Hi Arnold,

Thank you for sharing your use case and adding your voice to this request.  I have added your name and use case as additional context.

    Cheers,

    Scott.

Hello! I want to add my voice to this request. Your solution is very swift, except when configuring indicators. As Antonio's comment above, it is very time consuming when you have to configure the same few indicators, but for each component you are working with.

Thanks in advance for considering this issue!

    Hi!
I´d also like to see this feature implemented. I have one further suggestion, though: Could you implement the possibility to change the order in which the rules are applied? As far as I know, there is no way to move a rule up in the order of application short of deleting the respective rules above, inserting the new rule and re-building the other rules.

Hi, we were wondering if there's any progress on this. Otherwise we would like to add our voice to this request too.

    Hi All,

I've added the additional use cases to the feature request and associated your names.  This is on our radar, but has not yet made it to the top of the priority list.

Thanks again for adding your voice here and sharing in the community.

    Cheers,

    Scott.

Hi Scott, add me to the list of people who want this feature.  It's been a year since the last post in this thread.  Any chance we might see it soon?

Since this feature is not yet implemented, I've found a dirty way to do this

    0. Select a column and make all the fancy indicator styles you need

    1. Next Click "ALT+U" in klip editor window to open the source code of the klip (make a backup, incase you screw it up)

    2. Here each column will be listed, search for "conditions" in the source code - this is basically the column for which you added the indicators in step 0. Copy the full segment and paste it across the the columns for which you need the indicators to be copied

Again this is not the recommended way, I had to copy the indicators for some 20 odd columns so found this method.

    Hi Everyone,

We've partially implemented the copying indicators option. Within a formula, you can copy an indicator using the new + option in the indicator set-up section

This allows you to quickly copy many indicators in each Table column (or any component) if there are a number of unique conditions.

    Hope this helps!

Meggan, if I'm not mistaken this only duplicates the indicator within this component (or column in this case), correct?  Or am I missing something?  What we'd like to be able to do is to copy and paste multiple indicators from one component (or column) to another and I don't think this duplicate button accomplishes that.

    Hi Jack

You're correct. The first iteration for this was just within the column/individual component part. It does not duplicate across components yet.

The Klip schema copy and paste suggestion that Varun listed is definitely a use at your own risk, but the Klip schema will fail to save if you've done anything really wrong. A simple copy and paste should work ok.

    Thanks

    Meggan
