Display numbers with different notation: Thousands (K) Millions (M) etc

If you choose to format a field as a number it would be excellent if you could also optionally select to display the number in a different "notation": These would be for example: Thousands: k Millions: m Billions: b Trillions: t You would then automatically cut off the necessary zeros and add the appropriate letter. Currently there are too many zeros.

Great idea! Presently, the way to do this is to divide your value by say 1000 and then add a suffix of k.

    Hi,

I am looking for an update about this post. I tried to divide values by 1000 but I did not find the option in field or property.

    Any idea?

    Thanks,

    Olivier

    Hi Olivier,

Sure - you would do this in your formula.  just type the divided by symbol "/" and the number you want to divide by "1000000".  In my Klip I just hard-coded the original number, 1290000, however this would usually come from a formula with data from a data source as well

The "$" and "M" are set using prefix and suffix in the properties menu.

    Hope this helps!

I am still looking for a solution to this as well. We can format dates to display differently - I could really use a way to condense numerical values on the y-axis, without having to do this in the series as well.

Without this, I have to modify the y-axis to display tick labels diagonally in order to make them legible (for x-y flipped graph). Displaying a seven+ digit number diagonally takes up quite a bit of space along the bottom of the graph. It would look much cleaner to have a display option where $10,000,000 becomes $10M.
