Thank you for the input and the idea!
We have been looking into the possibility of enabling a folder structure or tagging mechanism to help with organizing all assets in Klipfolio - data sources, Klips, tabs, and such.
From the description, I believe this would meet your needs. Does that resonate with you?
Cheers,
Scott.

Would love to have this option available. This post is from 2014, any updates?

For me yes !

I think folders are a good idea for datasources and klips. I currently have to include something in the title of the datasource/klip so that they at least sort together.
-
Agreed. Would be a huge help to organized the growing list of data sources. Think nameable folder trees.
-
Folders would be great, tags even better. Any status on this? With a growing number of dashboards, klips and data sources it is getting increasingly important.

I agree with tags before folders. It's much more flexible.
Meanwhile I can recommend other users to filter with "groups".

Thank you for adding your voice to this feature request! It is great to hear where users are finding a need.
When looking at a mechanism to enable better organizing content, both folders and tags do come up. Do you have any additional context to share about how you want to organize your assets? I would be very interested in hearing about your specific uses and needs on how to organize and how you would expose to your users.
- Would the organization of assets be very specific to users? Or to themes/topics?
- Would you have a defined set of folders or tags users can choose from vs. free form to create their own?
- Would you want to associate sharing based on folders/tags?
Any additional context on how you would use this (with examples of your use case) would be very helpful.
In the meantime, I will add what has been shared above to the feature request for context.
Cheers,
Scott.

Hi Scott, thanks for looking into this. Our need is basically some way to organize the assets (dashboards, klips and datasources). The ideal solution would be something like the tagging system in Gmail. Tags allow for more dimensions in the same level whereas folders are tree structured, i.e. one dimension per level.
I imagine I would organize dashboards and klips according to division (sales, marketing, finance, service, etc.), organizational scope (C-Level, Mid Management, Floor, etc.), theme (specific products, etc.), systems (Salesforce, SAP, etc.), time frame (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.).
This way I could easily overview all "weekly" klips/dashboards or reporting within the sales division.
Data sources would probably be organized according to system/service (Salesforce, SAP, Facebook, Google Analytics, etc.).
This means that I should be able to create and manage tags. I would be great to be able to tag directly in the library lists. Then an extra tag management page would be needed in the admin section.
I wouldn't want to associate sharing based on tags. I believe it would overly complicate things.
I imagine it would make sense to have some tag permissions (tag ability, create tags, manage tags). This way I can choose whether I want to allow users to tag their own content, whether I want to allow them to create tags themselves or whether I want to allow only for adminstrators to tag.

Hi Marcus,
Thank you for the additional context. I will add this to the feature request to help with prioritization.
Cheers,
Scott.
