What are your thoughts on having Klipfolio pull larger datasets directly from enterprise datawarehouses (e.g. SAP BW, Domo, etc.)?

Hi Klipfolio community! I wanted to poll/ask you all (tech and non-techies alike) what are your thoughts on having Klipfolio pull larger datasets directly from enterprise data warehouses (e.g. SAP BW, Domo, etc.) for dashboarding and leveraging a landscaped environment (probably for larger companies) for implementation (e.g. sandbox, dev, test, production)?

    Hi Claudia,

    Thanks for starting the discussion.  I would be very interested in hearing responses to your question about larger data sets.  We are able to use XMLA and SQL to get queries from many enterprise data warehouses today.  As you and respondents comment, any additional context about data size would be helpful and we gather your feedback.

    Wrt your landscaped environment, I would very much like to hear more about your perspective here.  What did you have in mind?

    Hi Scott-

     

    For the landscape environment here were the scenarios I was thinking:

    • API calls and data source joins need to be tested with data but not deployed as a live report 
    • Display of report needs to be vetted and approved by a change control board before actually moving into the production landscape
    • Sometimes a new software is purchased and testing in the sandbox its extraction and transformation performance in a dashboard report before integrating with the live (production) version of existing reports
