Finding & Deleting orphaned Klips, Datasources & Variables

Since our way of working with Klipfolio kinda evolved over the past couple of years, we found out that having a good naming strategy really helps in order to find the right datasources and klips for the correct dashboard. So, my account needs cleansing of orphaned datasources, klips and probably variables. but i have no simple way of knowing a datasource is used or not in a dashboard other than i.e. opening a klips and checking if data is used. This is quite time consuming.

Hierarchically, i build dashboards from the ground up. starting with variables or datasources then klip and finally a dashboard. I therefore re-use datasources and variables, which seems good practice. So deleting a dashboard with all connected assests could be disastrous for other klips and dashboard.  

Is this feature currently present in Klipfolio? If not, would you consider it?

    With the API you can easy see if the databases it used in any klip or not. Very powerful.

    Hey Paul,

    Good points here - Wanted to clarify something around our "Delete this Dashboard AND All Klips and Data Sources" functionality.  If you choose to do this, then we perform a check to see if the assets are being used elsewhere.  If they are, then we will not delete them.  

    If Klips or Data Sources are in fact used in other Dashboards, then they will not be deleted.

    See bottom left of this screenshot.

    Ok, thats good to know!

    Question remains: i have 660 datasources and counting and have no clue whether they are being used or not.  A simple checkmark in the library - like you did with shared -  will do fine.

    Hi,

    The API mentioned still requires to check each data source one by one. Is there a way to find data sources with no link to Klips at once? 

    Same with Klips, is there a way to look for Klips that are not used in any Dashboard?
