New navigation bar!

Hey everyone,

Some of you may have noticed that we have started rolling out our new navigation bar. We'd love to hear your feedback (good or bad!) in the comments below :).

Also, stay tuned for some other updates coming soon (including the ability to minimize/collapse the bar to give your dashboards more room!).

Not Helpful. It Distracts away from the dashboard and currently, Admins do not have the power to disable on user accounts.  The old style was discreet and this is in your face.

Hey Michael, thanks for your feedback here.  Agree, the updated navigation is more prominent than the previous version, at least in its current state.  As Nikta mentioned, we'll finalizing the ability to collapse it to free up more screen real-estate.  This is coming soon, but in the interim, have your users tried the full screen mode?

The side navigation paves the way for some very exciting things just around the corner for us (suspenseful, no? :) ), so appreciate your feedback and patience as we complete the picture.

I agree, having the bar on the side wastes space and is a distraction. The top bar uses minimum space and leaves the full width for dashboards. Even making it collapsible isn't great as it makes using the product clumsier and slower. Low power PCs will struggle to redraw the screen to display the bar.

Why would anyone think that for a dashboard product, wasting screen real estate with a sidebar would ever be a good idea???

I had the new UI switched off, hate it, don't want it. Appalling.

    Hi Stewart and Michael,

I appreciate you guys posting your feedback here.

I know this is a big change and will take some getting used to. Regarding the prominence, we're hoping that the expand/collapse functionality will help with that, as well as fullscreen mode. And over the next few weeks we'll be rolling out incremental improvements to create a more polished experience and to help with performance.

Overall, we decided to make this change in part because it will set us up for a better mobile experience in the future. Horizontal navigation systems don't lend themselves well on mobile, and we want to create a more seamless experience for users regardless of what device they are on.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,

You are right it is a big change and it is one I don't want. Great that you want to make changes for mobile users, but that isn't how I use your product or how I want to use it. What I hated was that you forced out the change on me with no information and when I went and read the release blogs there was no mention of it. Support told me "Thats our awesome new GUI!" - my reply was "Who thought wasting my screen space would be awesome?" And that is the point here - side bars waste space, top bars are elegant and consume minimal space. Hiding them increases the CPU load for any device and means my Raspberry Pi's are going to struggle. As it seems you have been able to turn it off for me now, can't that be an option for users? Who did you consult about this?

Currently looking at competitor products and there is lots of choice out there. We are currently on a path to change one of our backend servers to a different database, so this is a good time for us to look at alternatives.

Whoa, new UI...Not sure yet if this is a good thing or bad thing.

First let's start with this nugget, NEVER roll a new product or update this late in the month. Why, I have already received complaints that people can no longer read numbers that they use for their monthly quotas and I have to rebuild and create copies so that they can read these numbers before end of month. More work for me that is unnecessary and after you fix these issues I will have to work more again to remove these extra klips/dashboards.

Also, not having a notification of new updates is, to put it mildly and in terms of customer service, clumsy.

you already are not doing any aspect ratio adjustments for displaying on different sized monitors. Which I would think would be a quick fix considering that every video game and program developer can manage to fit their content of every of real estate on your screen from 10in to 80in.

If your looking to be mobile ready GREAT! Our execs use it in this manner when off site. BUT, when I open the app, klips that were working and fit on my phone now, do not. Numbers run off the screen where they used to fit. The previous mobile interface was good.

Being able to minimize the bar on the left, while better, is NOT fixing the issue. I have dashboards that are designed to maximize the amount of data for managers and execs to review...and couple that with the inability to adjust the aspect ratio, tables are unreadable klip titles are cut off.

There are always pains with growth, we consider them good problems to have and the game is always to minimize them.

Now that I'm done ranting I am eager to see how you turn this new feature into a positive with future updates.

Do you have a group of users that you roll out as Beta testers? If not, I volunteer as tribute.

Here is a sneak peek of what is being worked on, which makes the first steps of nav bar so exciting- Klipfolio Trends.

Klipfolio Trends is a new experience, revolving around metrics. It will address a number of feature requests our customers have made that were not possible with Klips.

Trends will keep historic values, have dynamic series, pre-configured date range filtering, and built-in interactive filtering of visualizations - without needing any formulas. I followed the link and saw the image of the new interface - most of which seemed to be wasted space by the new bar at the side and wasted space at the top. I use this to display data and there is less room for data.

Please leave the navigation bar at the top, maximise the screen space for Klips.

I don't have detailed feedback, but I am a fan of the new layout. I get where the screen real estate comments are coming from, but from my end users perspectives, the new layout looks more modern and streamlined. I have only received positive feedback.
