Dashboards duplicating

I've had this issue multiple times now. When I'm copying klips I get duplicate dashboards sometimes, see: http://prntscr.com/l2d0wr

I created a new dashboard and it created a copy, then I deleted the copy and it deleted the original too

An entire days worth of work deleted!

    Hi Sam,

We do not have a duplicate dashboard feature, and the only way to make a copy of a klip is to edit it and then select 'Save as a copy'. Can you tell us what steps you are doing? Here is an article on how to copy a Klip: https://support.klipfolio.com/hc/en-us/articles/215545688-How-to-save-a-copy-of-a-Klip

    Thanks

It's happening on my account too Meggan.  No idea what causes it but I'll have two of the same dashboard show up under "Active Dashboards".  They'll even have different layouts if I've made changes to one.   It's like there's two different dashboards, even though I never created the second one.  I have deleted duplicate dashboards probably 10 times now in the past couple of months.  It's happening on it's own, just like in Sam's screenshot he shared.

Hi All, this happened to me as well.   Did anyone find a solution to this issue?

Is there a way to recover the deleted dashboard?

I just had the same problem.  I'm not very happy.

Also experiencing same problem.  Why is no one from Klipfolio addressing this properly?

EXTREMELY irritating and a COLOSSAL waste of time to recreate inadvertently deleted dashboards.

From a user perspective it is JUST a list.  Why so difficult to manage?

I am having this problem as well. I've got one client with three copies of the same dashboard listed under Active Dashboards. Two other clients have duplicates as well. I've had no luck figuring out how or why it happens.

    Hi Everyone,

We understand your frustration and are coming up with this short term and long term fixes for this issue. Multiple instances of the same dashboard can exist on your side navigation panel to allow a user to filter the same dashboard according to different criteria. This feature is commonly used by customers who want to track the same dashboard under different time periods, for example. You can have multiple instances of the same dashboard open if you open the same dashboard multiple times from the library page. If you choose to delete a dashboard that has more than once instance, all dashboard instances will be deleted.  To start, we want to make it less easy to add a second instance of your dashboard to your side navigation, as it's clear we have many users doing this (it's easy to do - which is a problem). For a long term strategy, we are looking at soft delete to assure no one gets stuck deleting valuable Klipfolio dashboards. Thank you for you patience, I will be in touch soon.

    Best,

I'm a new user and within 10 minutes of my first "Beta" posting - users were able to delete dashboards.
PLEASE tell me this is an issue that is being worked on.
I've lost two weeks of work in 10 minutes and it's a deal breaker if I can't lock down things better but still give my users ability to customize their own versions.

    Hi Jeff,

This is an area we are getting a lot of feedback on and the team will re-evaluate to make the experience better.

If a user has deleted a dashboard, the first check is to see that the Klips are still in your library. They should be. This means you can recreate your dashboard by just adding the Klips back on.

To prevent users from having access to delete, they should be given the role of 'view-only'. You can further restrict their actions when you share a dashboard by setting the permission level.

Good work on this so far Klipfolio team.  Caileigh's response in April makes sense and described the behavior that I saw.  It was too easy for multiple dashboard instances to be launched under "Active Dashboards".  Now, since "Active Dashboards" has gone away the problem is less common but I still see an issue with not being able to delete an instance of an "open" dashboard without deleting the dashboard completely.  If you accidentally open two instances of a dashboard there does not appear to be a way to delete one instance without deleting the dashboard completely.  It is gone, even from the library.  From a UI perspective this is not expected and could cost someone a lot of work, as we see on this thread.

    Hi Jack,

Just so I'm clear on what you're describing - do you see the 'Hide from list' option above the 'Delete dashboard' option? That would let you "delete" a dashboard without actually deleting it. If you aren't seeing the 'Hide from list' as an option, I'd love to look into that for you. You could send us a note to support@klipfolio.com

    Thanks

I have been able to lock things down a little bit better by creating a Role without the ability to Delete anything.
Unfortunately, I can't figure out any way to allow folks to customize their own versions of our Dashboards without also changing the Originals :(

I really hope the many reports/requests will allow this feature to be implemented sooner rather than later.

    Meggan,

That's the answer I was looking for.  I had missed that "Hide from list" option somehow.  Thanks for pointing that out.
