Google API no pulling Empty Rows

Hi,

I'm having trouble with the Google APi not pulling empty rows through. We are trying to show how many sessions from a filtered channel grouping are coming through. However as one of the channels has no sessions on one day it has meant that day just isn't pulling through so we are not seeing days in chronological order.

Having done some research it looks like the API dosen't pull any channel grouping data through if it is 0 but it does for other metrics such as transactions, is this the case?

Thanks,

    Hi Joseph,

Klipfolio can handle the scenario when an API, such as Google Analytics, doesn't return data for every day. For your GA Sessions data, I suggest using a pre-built PowerMetric following the instructions in the link. Select Google Analytics from our list of services, then select Sessions and you'll be prompted to connect to your Google Analytics account. Choose your chart type and set Segment by to Channel Grouping. The date alignment is handled automatically.

    Thanks,

    Hi Janice,

Thanks for this! It does answer part of the issue however We want to show the data based specifically on one channel in this graph and this hasn't allowed me to do that. I also want to compare against the same Day last year (so the same Monday this year to Monday last year not the same date) as apposed to previous period can you suggest a work around for this?

    Hi Joseph,

You can filter your PowerMetric to show specific channels. Comparing same day previous year can be done in a klip using formulas. If you decide to build a bar/line chart klip instead of  a PowerMetric, you'll need to use the LOOKUP function to align your series with the dates in your x-axis and create a separate series with a formula to compare with previous period (same day to same day) as opposed to using the built-in capabilities of a PowerMetric. If you have further questions on this, please email support@klipfolio.com.

    Thank you,
                 Janice
